my son has a horrible cold right now, and he keeps coughing himself awake, crying about it, snuggling me for like thirty seconds when I go in to get him, then pointing at his crib and sobbing, so i set him down, he falls asleep, and like twenty minutes later he does it all over again.

seriously considering just crawling into the crib with him at this point. we both might get more rest that way

Ugh, that's no fun at all. Poor kiddo. Kit's a front sleeper and colds always make them cough as the gunk collects in their face. Teething drool did it too. Our nickname for them is "bean" and we call them "coffee bean" when they're cough-y.

Steam and saline spray and snot-sucking and diluted honey help a bit, but mostly you just have to ride it out. :/ Many sympathies.

That sounds so awful for both of you. ;_; I hope the cold's a short-lived one.

Poor bb. I remember sleeping with my 6 month old son on my chest a few nights because it was the only way either of us could get any rest... it sucks. Here's hoping he gets better soon.

Oh, the sodden sheets! They're the worst. Kit's got so bad that we started layering their bed with waterproof pad, sheet, waterproof pad, sheet, so if the top layer got gross in the middle of the night we could just yank it off. I bought so many crib sheets and mattress pads that the clerk at Buy Buy Baby asked whether I had twins. We'll probably have to do the same when they're doing overnight toilet training.

Humidifiers are vital. I'd always heard that babies needed them and I didn't understand why until I had one and saw just how small their noses are.

I hope Rowan feels better very soon!
