Okay, so I haven't done this before, but I have approximately 500 fanworks bookmarked, and I figured I should share the love. And this seemed like a good opportunity. SO: here are fifteen recs for various fandoms for the Round 9 March Amnesty Challenge for [community profile] hc_bingo .

Categories were Surgery, Interrogation, and Undeserved Reputation.

Surgery
Amelioration by baylop (fic - Guardians of the Galaxy)
Kraglin is left with a reassembled arrow and not much else. The Guardians manage to help.
This is an absolutely lovely post-GOTG fic in which Kraglin gets a fin so that he can use Yondu's yaka arrow. While Kraglin/Yondu isn't something I read all that much, the character dynamics here are just so good. Kraglin's grief is so sharply drawn, and the worldbuilding is incredibly vivid and well-done.

One Among Those Stars by jessebee (fic - Star Wars)
There's something about Luke that Han doesn't know. This is not the way he'd've picked to find out.
Really fantastic original trilogy Han/Luke fic that deals with Han finding out about Luke's prosthetic hand. I love the atmosphere of this, and Han's POV is great.

Fate and the High King's Falcon by baylor (fic - Lord of the Rings)
Pippin recovers from his injuries following the battle at the Black Gate.
Absolutely wonderful book-verse fic that follows Pippin and Merry and the rest of the Fellowship as they recover after the main events of the novels. The writing is fantastic, and I love the gently sad, wistful tone of this; it feels very true to LOTR in a way that a lot of fic doesn't.

Undeserved Reputation
Thorns for Flowers by Valkirin (fic - Daredevil/MCU)
Hawkeye don't mind working with Daredevil, really. He's a good guy to know and clearly cares about Hell's Kitchen. Clint Barton would like Daredevil better if the guy was a little less ableist about Clint's hearing loss.
Really smart, thoughtful fic about Daredevil and the Avengers, in which nobody realizes that Daredevil is blind. Clint's POV here is just fantastic, and the misunderstandings are really well-done. And everything is resolved with thrilling heroics, which is always fun.

You Make Yourself Another by Leviathan0999 (fic - Star Trek TOS/AOS)
The Great Karidian receives a visitor.
This is an absolutely fantastic fic that deserves so much more love. Spock Prime does what he can to fix the alternate timeline - in this case, by tracking down Kodos and telling him what the future holds for him if he continues to hide from his past. Kodos is both awful and surprisingly sympathetic here as a viewpoint character, and I love the way this weaves the two timelines together.

No Difference by The_Bookkeeper (fic - Supernatural/Criminal Minds)
Derek has been in a lot of bad situations. This one easily makes the top five. Or would, if Dean and Sam Winchester were actually acting like the sadistic psychopaths he expected them to be.
I'm pretty much always a sucker for outside POV on the Winchester brothers, and this is a really good take. I especially love how the author writes Dean as someone who is a genuinely scary and dangerous person despite not being the amoral killer Derek expects.

True Victory by Zurik (vid - Black Sails)
They paint the world full of shadows and tell their children to stay close to the light, because in the darkness there are dragons. But it isn't true. In the darkness, there is freedom.
Beautifully edited fanvid that takes on the really complicated nature of terror and reputation that the show deconstructs so well.

stranger danger by gaywoodandbine (fic - Shadowhunters)
New York City public transit can be a dangerous place late at night and on your own. Luckily, Laura has pepper spray and a plucky attitude.
Fun outside POV fic on Alec Lightwood, who is a pretty intimidating kind of dude if you don't know him. I really love the contrast of how Alec comes across to a stranger versus how he actually is.

maybe he loves him, too by serendipitiness (fic - Shadowhunters)
The Clave is not kind to those who are different. The Clave is a formula, and Alec, her oldest son, her greatest potential, her baby boy, her successor… he won’t fit.
I really love the complexity of this. Maryse Lightwood doesn't exactly do right by her children, especially Alec, but she loves them all so fiercely. The exploration of assumptions and prejudice, especially in her assumptions about who Magnus is and what he wants from her son, is so well-done. Messy family relationships ftw!

Alpha and Emissary by Chiomi (fic - Teen Wolf)
One hears rumors, seeping out of Beacon Hills on waves of smoke and blood. And then one sees the True Alpha's Star Wars swim trunks. The whole weekend is very unnerving.
This is such a fun AU. I really like the contrast between Scott and Stiles's fearsome reputations (which aren't completely undeserved) and the reality of them as a couple of complete and total dorks.

Interrogation
Dare by J S Cavalcante (fic - Star Trek TOS)
Spock would do anything to defend his captain, even humiliate himself by breaking the Vulcan customs that forbid emotional release. But once Spock's controls are undone, who will protect Kirk from the beast that lurks in the Vulcan soul?
Kirk gets himself into some trouble while getting information from some lowlifes in a bar; Spock gets him out of it. Sort of. Public claiming is usually really not my thing, but this is hot and intense and the character voices are absolutely amazing; Kirk is stubborn and pragmatic and confrontational, and Spock is... entirely overwhelmed, and the sly humor and easy mutual respect between them is really great. (Warnings: dub-con kissing, rape threats)

Time and Togetherness by Sholio (fic - Agent Carter)
When you've been locked up and drugged, getting out of captivity is just the first part.
Lovely OT3 fic about dealing with the aftermath of torture and interrogation. I love the three of them caring for each other even though they're all pretty messed up, and Peggy's narration is an absolute delight.

8-Tracks and Razor Blades by ivyfic (fic - Burn Notice)
Michael Westen wasn't always a spy.
Michael Westen meets Sam Axe for the first time when he's brilliant, angry high school student. I love how gentle Sam is with him, and how in-character Michael is here; he's both a perfectly believable teenager and also identifiably himself.

And It Just Got Worse... by VelvetMace (fic - Sherlock [BBC])
Sally and Sherlock wake to find themselves locked together, naked, in a tiny stinking closet, at the mercy of some very bad people. If either is to survive, they have to learn to put aside their differences and trust each other. Given their history, this is not an easy thing to do.
I can never get enough of well-written Sally Donovan POV in this fandom, and this is just great. Sally and Sherlock bonding in awful circumstances while remaining recognizably themselves is such a trip to read about. I love how hard-earned the trust is here.

Mariner by Iseult (fic - Supernatural/Pirates of the Caribbean)
He’s been coming in for as long as she can remember, and he hasn't aged a day.
This is such a fantastic, unexpected interaction. I love Ellen's POV here, and I love the other person, whose identity is a spoiler, and I just really love this quiet, tense little moment between them.
