So, I've been back to work this week. It's a little weird; we're keeping it at a skeleton staff, which means essentially that I'm there in the evenings with one other person in the entire building. Another piece of relevant data: my library is in a converted Victorian mansion, complete with a tower and a maze of a stone basement with three hidden rooms and a couple of doors blocked behind shelving that lead to nowhere in particular.

Basically, it's a little creepy in the evening if there's nobody else around. Or if the only other person around is two floors down and most of the lights in the hallway are out because the circuitry is also ancient and having too many things on at a time will blow the circuit and necessitate me wandering into the depths of the catacombs under the building to reset it if I happen to try to turn my window AC unit on. And there are a lot of strange odds and ends to be found in the attic and the basement and in random little closets and rooms.

All of which is to say that my boss found this fucking gigantic stuffed bear and stuck it in the window outside my office overlooking Main Street, and it has been giving me a heart attack every single time I walk down the hallway and catch sight of it out the corner of my eye. If it's still there on Monday, I'm going to leave it behind his desk for him to find in the morning.

I just got off a work videoconference and my boss is starting to look like a very nerdy mountain man, the children’s librarian has set up the architecture for online Harry Potter school through the end of the year, and I have been introduced to no less than four cats, so wfh librarian-ing is proceeding apace.

(I feel a bit bad that I’m not putting together Many Clever Programs, but as I’m also trying to home-school at the same time, I kinda feel like I should be commended for managing to more or less keep my head above water.)
